Separation Anxiety

In two weeks I will be flying to NJ to visit my grandmother and various other family members for 10 days. I cashed in a bunch of frequent flyer miles and will travel in First Class! Yippee! I haven't seen those people in almost 2 years. This trip is long overdue.
Husband is already sweating about my absence. Never mind that he will be gone on a business trip for four of those days. He can't stand to be without me. His life is definitely easier when I am here and he knows it.
I'm looking forward to not cooking for 10 days. I'll be in a bit of a technology time warp though. No connection to the internets that entire time. Aaaaacccckkk.

Logic...or Something

On Sunday I made my weekly call to my parents. My mother had surgery early last week so Husband asked if he could talk when I was finished. No problem. During the conversation he asked what was for dinner in FL. She told him "veal chops." He replied, "Oh! That sounds good!"

When he hung up the phone I said..."Really??? You think veal sounds good?! I think it sounds totally disgusting. Do you even know what veal is?"
He told me he thought it was a type of fish.
I told him what it really was and to make sure he never orders it by accident when I'm not around because it most certainly is not a fish.
"And...what made you think it was a fish anyway?" I asked.
"Well, it rhymes with seal and a seal is sort of a fish."

I nearly died laughing. He is too cute.

Leave Me Alone

I've never lived in a place where my doorbell rings as much as it does here. The thing is, I'm not one to answer it. If I'm not expecting anyone, why would I? Especially at night. Last night it was 8:30pm. Husband looked out the peephole and saw a teenage looking kid out there. I told him not to even bother opening the door. Isn't 8:30pm too late for you to be ringing a stranger's doorbell? It rang again several times just a few minutes ago. I didn't even get off the couch. Go Away! This is ridiculous.
I'm also having a problem with a number that keeps calling one of my cell phones. It comes from a company that wants to talk to me about my expiring vehicle warranty. WTF? I have two almost brand new vehicles in my garage. No warranty is expiring. Not to mention, I don't even give out that phone number. My previous vehicle was 9 years old when we got rid of it and the warranty had long since expired. I didn't even have that phone number when I got that vehicle either. The whole thing stinks of a scam. Since I don't play phone games, I don't even take the calls when I see that area code anymore.
My other cell phone has a fantastic feature called "Reject List" and I'm slowly filling it up. I was able to block a satellite radio company from calling me several times per day. The calls don't even go through if you're on that list. It just shows up as a missed call. I wish all phones had this. In fact, next time I upgrade a phone, I will make sure it has that feature.

Here She Is!

Check THIS out!
Husband bought it for me yesterday. We went cruising through downtown today. I'm still a nervous wreck riding in a public area. I prefer the empty trails. But I survived and we had a blast.
She needs a name. Any ideas??

Go Brown!

I'm so excited about the race tomorrow but at the same time, I'm worried about the guy. The vision of him winning the race then collapsing and being euthanized has run through my mind. I hope he can pull it off. After all these years we need a Triple Crown winner.
Here's to the Big guy!

Change Might Be Good

I've changed my link from Hillary to Obama. I was sad doing it, but since it is inevitable, why not just get it over with? It isn't that I don't like him. I do. But I like her and being a woman, I wanted a woman president. Is that so bad? I don't have anything bad to say about him. I just do not feel that "spark" that has captured so many others. Since I will not vote for the other party....ever, add me to the list of supporters. However, I do feel he can make changes. I believe he has the attention of the younger generation who are about to vote for the first time. I remember how that felt. Bill certainly filled me with excitement as I was preparing to vote for the first time so many years ago. He had me at...Hello.
With that I say, out with old and in with new. This country is need of a shakedown. Give it to us Barack.

Selling The Drama

Recently I have realized that I'm a magnet for drama. It swoops down and captures me before I even know what hit me. It encompasses my life and well...the lives of some of my best friends who get caught in my drama net. Please accept my apologies friends, you know who you are. Basically the past 6 months of my life have been filled with drama. Most of it has remained unblogable. Seemingly innocent situations fall into my lap then explode. When I look back on about the last 5 years, I just cringe. I was going to site some examples here, but it is just too much. I've reached my breaking point with the latest one. I'm sure I will blog about it someday. It is definitely blogworthy, but I hesitate to put it in words right now.
I am looking for ways to set myself free. Please help me.

San Diego-Day 3

This photo was taken from the flight deck of the Midway which is docked here and on permanant exhibit. You cannot even imagine how big this thing is...unless of course you've been on an aircraft carrier before. With the price of admission (cheap) you get a free audio tour. We spent the entire day exploring this thing. We did not even finish the audio tour, in fact because we had to leave for the airport. I think we could have spent another hour here. On the flight deck are all different types of aircrafts, some of which you can go aboard. They have one jet sitting on the catapult and we learned how the take off works. It made us want to come home and watch Top Gun.

San Diego-Day 2

At the Zoo! Here is Husband monkeying around. I made him pose here. He would be horrified to learn I have posted this picture. I'm pretty sure he doesn't read this. Good thing!

Here is a very proud peacock. Husband said it is actually a "she" because there are no feathers on top of her head. So we'll go with that. This peacock let a whole crowd of people get very close to her. When she realized we were all watching, she opened up her feathers and walked in a circle so that everyone could see. She wasn't scared at all. It was definitely a highlight of the day.

Gorilla family! Another highlight. We arrived at snack time. The keepers tossed red and green cabbage out to them. The big guy on the left went around and collected a handful for himself. Then he sat and devoured each one while the others watched. The two little ones on the right were so cute! They played tag while the adults enjoyed the cabbage. I could have watched them all day.

I highly recommend this zoo if you haven't been there before. It was well worth the money. We spent the entire day walking around. I had read online before we went that you should make sure to get there early in the day and see the pandas first. Good thing we listened to that. There was no line and only about 10 people inside the panda area when we hiked up there. Later in the day the line was probably more than an hour wait. They have a baby panda. She was sleeping up in a tree the whole time. I don't think she realizes how big she is. Soon she won't fit in that tree!
